Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

" This sauce is from the very popular 'chicken bowls' in my hometown. It's very tasty! Use it as a marinade for chicken, or to baste chicken while grilling. Increase the hot chile paste as desired. Twelve teaspoons is usually as much as anyone can take! "
Ingredients
200 g white sugar
235 ml soy sauce
235 ml water
2 g onion powder
2 g ground ginger
15 ml lemon juice
20 g hot chile paste
Directions
1 In a medium saucepan over high heat, whisk together white sugar, soy sauce, water, onion powder and ground ginger. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
2 Remove the mixture from heat, and whisk in lemon juice and hot chile paste. Place chicken in the mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator at least 4 hours before preparing as desired.
